FRED H. WHIDDEN

STURGEON FALLS, Ont. -
A memorial service and Royal Canadian Legion Last Post
were held Monday for Fred Harris Whidden, 67,
of Sturgeon Falls, Ont., who died Saturday.
He was a son of the late Charles and Eva Whidden,
of Stillwater, Guysborough County.
During the Second World War, he served as combat flight lieutenant
in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a mining engineer
in Timmons and Goderich, Ont., with Domtar Sifto Salt.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Anthony;
two sisters, Phyllis (Mrs. Morris Verge), Dartmouth;
Ethel Galligar, Halifax; two brothers, Maurice, Dartmouth;
Basil, Stillwater. He was predeceased by two brothers,
Gordon and Cecil. The body has been cremated.
A graveside service will be held in Waternish Cemetery, at a later date.
