Elda Jeanette McKeen

McKeen, Elda Jeanette -
87, Aspen, Guysborough Co. died Friday, October 1, 1999,
in the new Halifax Infirmary, QE ll.
Born in Aspen ,she was the daughter of the late
Forrest and Edna (Manson) MacKeen.
Elda was a lifelong resident of Aspen.
She had been a former employee of
St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke,
where she worked as a CNA.
She was a member of the Florence Fraser Chapter,
Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member
of Sunlight Rebekah Lodge for over 50 years.
Elda was a charter member of Kirk Memorial United Church
where she was a choir member for 66 years.
She was a charter member of the United church Women.
She was a member of the Women’s Institute of Nova Scotia
for more than 65 years. She was a member of
the Greenfield Seniors Group. She is survived by
her daughter, Patricia (Mrs. James Greene), Aspen;
and son Graham (Donna), Stellarton; sisters,
Alice Sutherland, Denver, Guysborough County; Greta Greenwood,
Lake Echo; brothers Scott MacKeen, Aspen; Herman MacKeen,
Lower Sackville; grandchildren , Arnold, Todd, Jacquie, Rocky,
Graham, Mamie; 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased
by her husband, Huntley Arnold MacKeen; sister Elsie Ross;
brother Wilbur MacKeen. Her remains will rest at
the Kirk Memorial United Church, Glenelg,
for visitation today at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and from where the
funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. ,
with Rev. James Forbes officiating. Burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery. Donations may be made
in her memory to Kirk Memorial United Church building fund,
Evergreen Cemetery or to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Arrangements are under the direction of H.W.Angus Funeral Home.
