C. H. Feltmate Dies At Canso, Canso, Sept 5 -

One of Canso's oldest and best known citizens,
Cranswick H. Feltmate, passed away at his home after a brief illness.
Mr Feltmate, who was 81, had been working in his barber shop
up until a month ago. He was born in White Head,
Guysboro County, but had lived most of his life in this town,
where he had been a well-known and esteemed citizen
for over half a century. He had recently completed 50 years
continuous service to the public as a barber. He was a member of
the United Church, and also of the Masonic Order,
having been presented with a 50 year jewel by Canso Lodge
a few years ago. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Minnie Williams,
of Canso; one son, Reginald, New York, and three daughters,
Goldie, Mrs Rogers), Lowell, Mass; Evelyn (Mrs E L Eagles), Guysboro,
Nova Scotia, and Hope (Mrs Ray Norman, Far Rockaway, L.I. N.Y.
There are also 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral, largely attended, was conducted by Rev H Colpitts
of Canso Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev J H Markham,
Rector of All Saints Anglican Church. The Masonic burial service
was also read at the grave, the Masonic pallbearers being
J C Dunning, G A Stephenson, A H Whitman, J E Tate, A S Kelland and C O Boyd.
