The death occurred at St Martha's
Hospital, Antigonish, January 8, of Elijah William Feltmate, Eight Island
Lake, at the age of 82 years. Mr Feltmate was born at Upper White Head,
Guysborough County, a son of the late Mr and Mrs George Feltmate. Over 60
years ago he moved to this area with his parents. He lived in Eight Island
Lake until a few months ago when he went to reside with his grandson,
Rodney Feltmate, at Big Marsh, Antigonish Co. He became ill there and
entered hospital several weeks ago. Surviving are four daughters, Annie
(Mrs Ernest MacDonald), Sunny Brae; Christena (Mrs Stephen Fenton), Eight
Island Lake; Mable (Mrs Hugh Turner,) Goshen; Sadie (Mrs Leslie Pushie),
New Glasgow; three sons, Edward, Walter and William, Eight Island Lake;
four sisters, Mrs Elizabeth Sinclair, Goshen; Mrs Charles Wall, Shelburne;
Mrs Anne Fenton, Antigonish; Mrs Esther Stewart, River John; one brother,
Curry Feltmate, Gravenhurst, Ont; several grandchildren including Rodney
Feltmate, who was brought up in his grandfather's home. The funeral on
Monday afternoon was held in Goshen Mission Church, and was conducted by
Rev Foster Jenkins of King's United Church, Loch Katrine. Interment was in
Argyle Cemetery and the pallbearers were: Wesley, Nathaniel and Douglas
Feltmate, Charles Cameron, Charles Fenton and Raymond Cummings.
