JOHN W. MAGUIRE
STEEP CREEK, Dec. 12 -
The death occurred on Dec. 4, at Steep Creek
of
John W. Maguire at the age of 87 years.
The son of John and Margaret
Maguire,
he was the oldest surviving member of one of the oldest
and
best-known families in this community.
He had followed the sea in his earlier years
but for the past 30 years
had made his home at Steep Creek.
He is survived by one sister, Margaret,
at home, and a brother, Lewis,
also of Steep Creek.
Three brothers and one sister had already
predeceased him.
The funeral service was held at St. James Anglican Church at Melford,
of which he was a lifelong member, Rev. Mr. Kingsbury officiating.
Members of Temple Lodge No. 57 A. F. and A. M.
of which he had been
a member for nearly 60 years,
conducted the service at the graveside.
