Bears, Gertrude A. - 88,
Northwood Centre, Halifax, died April 17, 1999, in the Centre. Born in Englee, Nfld., she was the eldest daughter of the late John and Mary (Hynes) Brown. She was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Sherbrooke, and a former member of the Ladies Aid and WMS. Surviving are sons, John (Shirley), Frederickton; Gordon (Bea), Boca Raton, Fla.; daughter, Margaret ( John) Slaunwhite, Victoria, B.C.; grandchildren, Heather Thomas, Vancouver; Jeffrey Slaunwhite, Victoria, B.C.; Barbara Gadbois, Houston, Texas; sisters, Minnie and Marie;brothers, Jack, Jim and Eddie. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred; infant daughter, Gertrude; brothers, George and Clayton. The body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Northwood Centre on Tuesday at 10 a.m., Rev. Jim Anderson officiating. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke at 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Family flowers only. Donations to Northwood Foundation or St. James Presbyterian Church, Sherbrooke, N.S. BOJ 3C0.
