MacDonald, Anthony (Tony) – 79, Stillwater, Guysborough Co., died February 2, 1996, in St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital,, Sherbrooke. Born at Point Tupper, he was a son of the late Vincent and Annie (Cameron) MacDonald. He was instrumental in the establishment of the senior citizens housing complex in Sherbrooke. He served overseas as a tank commander with the Halifax Rifles during the Second World War. Surviving are his wife, the former Melva Alice Makin; daughter, Judith (Mrs. Andrew Gazso), Calgary; stepson, Thomas Sanford Makin, Halifax; son, Anthony Douglas MacDonald, Antigonish; Kirk Ian MacDonald, Sherbrooke; sisters, Olive (Mrs. Wilford MacKinnon), Halifax; Mary Margaret (Mrs. Grant Starr), Jean Fitzgerald, British Columbia; Annabelle (Mrs. James Brown), Florida; Francis (Mrs. James Murphy), Truro. He was predeceased by brothers, Allan, Michael, Louis, Douglas, John J., two in infancy; sisters Myrtle, two in infancy. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. Memorial service 1 p.m. Monday in St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Sherbrooke, Rev. Bedford Doucet officiating. Burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Stillwater. Family flowers only. Donations to St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke.
