John O'Neil

SHERBROOKE, Oct. 22 - John J. O'Neil passed away suddenly at St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke, Oct. 14.
He was the youngest son of the late John and Elizabeth O'Neil of Douglas, Ont.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elva Scott;
a daughter, Marlene (Mrs. W.A. Morrison) Bath, Ont.;
two grandchildren, also two sisters and brother in Ontario.
During the second World War he served overseas with the Canadian Army Dental Corps.
For a number of years he was with the Department of Transport and
at the time of his death was on the staff of St. Mary's Memorial Hospital.
A member of Queens Lodge 34, AF and AM,
a service was conducted Saturday evening at the Veinotte Funeral Home.
The funeral service was held from St. Johns United Church on Sunday afternoon with Rev. Robert Stevens officiating, assisted by Frank Canning.
Hymns sung were "The Lord's My Shepherds" and "There is No Sorrow, Lord, Too Light".
Pallbearers were member of the Canadian Legion who held a short service at the graveside.
Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lewis Beaver, Donald McBeth, Bryce Smith, Frank Jordan, Ed Hartling and Bruce Nauffts.
The many floral tributes, sympathy cards and letters signified to the esteem in which the deceased was held.
