NEWTOWN, Guysborough County - Ernest Ellsworth Archibald, 82,
died Thursday in MacKaracher nursing home in Sherbrooke, Guysborough County.
Born in Newtown, he was a son of the late William Henry and Jane (Gunn) Archibald.
He lived in Newtown all his life before becoming a guest at the nursing home two years ago.
He spent most of his life farming;
he was a member and elder of Bethany United church, East River, St. Mary's,
and of IOOF Radium Lodge #137, East River, St. Mary's
and a member of Gladstone LOL #89, Denver,
as well as the Sons of Temperance.
He was the last surviving member of his family.
He is survived by a son, William (Billy), Toronto; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Josephine Clyburne;
a sister, Margaret, and an infant sister;
six brothers, John T., Arthur, Daniel, Robert E., George and an infant brother.
The body will be in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, Stillwater, Guysborough County after 7 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Kirk Memorial United Church, Glenelg,
Rev. Harry Disher officiating.
Burial will be in Newtown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity.
