S. Archibald Passes Away

NEW TOWN - Samuel Arthur Neil Archibald, well-known retired merchant and farmer
of this community, died on Tuesday, in the Aberdeen Hospital.
He was 85.
Born at New Town, Guysboro Co.,
a son of the late William and Jane (Gunn) Archibald,
he was a member of Bethany United Church, East River St. Mary's;
Radium Lodge, IOOF, Gladstone Orange Lodge and the Black Perceptory.
Surviving are five daughters:
Margaret (Mrs. Eric Cleveland), Wolfville;
Marie (Mrs. Allison Illsley), Moncton;
Elsie (Mrs. George MacDonald), Rocky Mountain;
Violet (Mrs. Scott Fraster), Garden of Eden,
and three sons;
Cecil and Hugh, New Town, and Henry, in Needham, Mass.
Also surviving are one sister Mrs. Daniel Gunn, Scotsburn;
three brothers; Daniel, Belleville, Ont.;
Dr. Edward in Melrose, Mass.;
Ernest, New Town;
36 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His wife, the former Emma Jane Cameron, predeceased him.
The remains will rest at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home till noon on Thursday when they will be transferred to his late residence.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. from the East River St. Mary's Presbyterian Church with interment in New Town Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any charity.
