William C. Hattie
Caledonia

On Sunday, April 4th, the community was saddened by the report
of the death of William C. Hattie
who passed away at the advanced age of nearly 92 years.

The late William Hattie was born in Caledonia,
July 22nd, 1851, son of Daniel Hattie and Mary MacQuarrie.
His entire life was spent in the district.
For many years he carried on a lumbering business
on the St. Mary's River and elsewhere,
in partnership with his brother, Alex A. Hattie,
who died nearly seven years ago.

In religion , he was a staunch supporter of the Presbyterian Church.

In politics , a Liberal of the old Joseph Howe school.

His passing removes one more of the fast vanishing pioneers.

He is survived by one brother, Rev. J.H. Hattie,
of Saskatoon, and numerous nephews and nieces.
The funeral was held on April 6th. Services were conducted by
Rev. Mr. Archibald of East River St. Mary's.
The pall bearers were John A. MacIntosh, Waldo MacQuarrie, Geo. J. Wilson,
Kenneth Cruikshank, Russell Laughlin and John Cruikshank.
