Obituary for Mary Margaret (Mae) Scranton Newson

Mrs. Burgess Newson
South Manchester, Guys. Co.

A wide circle of friends learned with regret
of the passing of Mrs. Burgess Newson at her home
at North River, P.E.I.

The deceased who previous to her marriage to Mr. Newson
only eight months ago, was Mrs. Mae Scranton,
widow of Fenwick Scranton of South Manchester.

She was born in Harbour Grace, Nfld.,
63 years ago and was the former Mary Margaret Crane.

The late Mrs. Newson was held in high esteem,
was of a jovial and kindly disposition
and possessed many fine qualities.

She was a member of the Boylston Baptist Church
and while residing in Manchester, was a faithful and active member
of the Boylston Branch of the Red Cross Society.

Surviving besides her husband are three sons,
Chas. Scranton, North River, P.E.I.; Henry, South Manchester
and Ernest, Guysboro and one brother, Chas. Crane, Carbonear, Nfld.

The remains were brought to Manchester
and the funeral service was held in the Manchester Baptist Church,
conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. E. Todd, of the North River Church.
Her three sons were pall bearers and they were assisted
by Hoyt McPherson, a friend of the family.
Interment was in Manchester cemetery.
