NEWTOWN - Ella Mary Archbiald, 73, of Newtown, Guysborough County,
died Friday in Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Glenelg, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late
Ernest and Jean Frances (Fisher) Hattie.
She was a resident of Newtown all her married life,
a member of Bethany United Church, East River St. Mary's
and a retired registered nurse
who graduated from Aberdeen Hospital school of nursing.
She was also a member of Aberdeen Hospital alumni and a 50-year graduate.
She was a member of United Church Women, East River St. Mary's;
Sunlight Rebekah Lodge, East River St. Mary's'
Florence Fraser Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, Sherbrooke,
and Newtown-Denver Women's Institute.
She was also on the board of directors for St. Mary's Homemakers Association
and an associate legion member in Sherbrooke.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh;
two sons, Terry, at home;
Greg, Grand Prairie, Alta.;
three brothers, Stanley, Dorchester, N.B.;
Cecil, Glenelg;
Clayton, East River St. Mary's;
two sisters, Mabel MacDonald, Lochaber;
Ethel Archibald, Denver, Guysborough County;
several nieces and nephews.
Her remains are resting in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kirk Memorial United Church, Glenelg.
Interment will be in Newtown cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or
Bethany United Church, East River St. Mary's.
