MONA BEATRICE MURDOCK
The death occurred Saturday evening, December 22, 1979
in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital, Guysborough, N.S.
of Mona Beatrice Murdock. The daughter of the late
John A. and Margaret S. Morrison, she was born in Hazel Hill,
Guysborough County Dec. 1, 1895. She received her early education in Hazel Hill
and, later, in London, England. In 1920 she graduated from
the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in New Glasgow, N.S.
During her nursing career, she worked at the Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, Conn.,
the Newington Home for Crippled Children, Newington, Conn.
and the Robert Brigham Hospital, Roxbury, Mass.
Mrs. Murdock was a life member of Belmont Chapter 108,
Order of the Eastern Star, of Massachusetts;
a patron of the Robert Breck Brigham Hospital Alumnae Association;
past executive member of the Boston Baptist Social Union;
past member of Tremont Temple Baptist Church, Boston;
a member of the Women’s Auxiliary, Baptist Home of Massachusetts.
She was also a life member of the Canadian Bible Society,
an honorary life member of the Aberdeen Hospital Alumnae Association,
and a past executive member of Christ Church Ladies’Guild, Guysborough.
She is survived by her husband Alfred W. Murdock
of Guysborough and Amherst; two brothers, Gilbert R. Morrison of Halifax
and John R. Morrison of Brooklyn, New York.;
also nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Howard A. Flanders
in 1939, and by her brother Sholto Morrison in 1978.
Remains are resting at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home in Guysborough.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 26th at 2:00 p.m.
in Christ Church, Guysborough, Rev. Fred Hiltz officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Christ Church Memorial Fund or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
