MORRISON, Barbara S. - Halifax,
died in the New Halifax Infirmary, QE11, Monday, April 2, 2001.
Born in Guysborough, she was a daughter of the late
Charles and Mary (Pyle) Morrison.
Barbara worked for the Nova Scotia Government Department of Tourism
until her retirement in 1977.
For many years, she organized the International Tuna Tournament
out of Wedgeport. She was a life member of
Sir Sanford Fleming chapter IODE.
A long-time member of St. Matthew's United Church
and a member of the Waegwoltic Club. Active member of
Neptune Theatre and Symphony Nova Scotia.
An honorary member of the Canadian Women's Press Club,
Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and Heritage Trust, Nova Scotia.
She volunteered many years with the Victoria General Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing
at her cottage in Donahues Lake, Guysborough County.
For many years, she was an avid bridge player,
enjoying many hours with her friends. Her sense of humour,
her love of life and her caring ways
will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sister Vivian Sodero, Truro;
nieces, Barbara McCurdy and Connie Sodero;
nephews , Ted Sodero and Charles Morrison; grand-nieces,
Tamara, Christy and Laura; grand-nephews, Ian and Scott.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 5
in St. Matthew's United Church at 2 p.m.,
Rev. Dr. Ross Bartlett officiating. Burial at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, The Arthritis Society or charity of choice.
