RED BAR

EASTERN CHRONICLE, NEW GLASGOW, NS-TUESDAY 6 JANUARY 1942

MRS. G.B. CRUICKSHANK
CALEDONIA
It was with a feeling of profound regret that the community learned of the passing
of MRS. GORDON B. CRUICKSHANK on Dec.4, at her home.
She was a woman of sterling character,
a devoted wife and mother of a most self-sacrificing nature,
always interested in the welfare of others.
While in the possession of health she was active in the church and community life,
her pleasing personality endearing her to all she met.
Mrs. Cruickshank was before her marriage HENRIETTA HATTIE,
the second daughter of JAMES L. HATTIE and SUSANNE MacDANIEL
of Sherbrooke where she was born July 15th, 1870.
She leaves to mourn her husband and four sons, JOHN B., HUGH D., and KENNETH S.,
all living at Caledonia, and EDGAR L., at Glenholme, Col.Co.
A son, HENRY, died in 1917. She leaves also one sister, MINNIE(Mrs. W.S. Chisholm),
Sacremento, Calif., two brothers, DANIEL G. HATTIE and JOHN JAMES HATTIE, of British Columbia.
The funeral service was held from the Presbyterian Church,
of which she was a most loyal member.
The service was conducted by her farmer(former?)pastor,
Rev.F.G. MacDonald, who paid a worthy tribute to her worth in every good work.
A combined chorus sang her favorite hymns.
Miss KATHERINE MacINTOSH of Sunny Brae sang most feelingly "The City Four Square".
Miss MacIntosh and Mr. MacDonald sang a duet
"We Are Going Down To Valley".
The Rebekahs, of which she was a member
held their service in the church at the close of the other service.
Interment was at the church cemetery.
