MRS. GERTRUDE NOEL

ASPEN, July 19 – Funeral service was held Sunday,
July 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church,
Stillwater, Guys, Co., for Mrs. Gertrude (Demmons) Noel.

Mrs. Noel was born in 1903 the daughter of the late
Isaac and Mary Jane (Whidden) Demmons. She was born at
Stillwater and later the family moved to Glenelg.
She went to Boston, U.S.A. in early life where she met
and married her late husband and spent the greater part of her life.
On retirement she and her husband came to Nova Scotia
and settled at Waternish where they renewed acquaintances
and made many new friends.

She is survived by three brothers, Ellsworth Demmons, Trenton;
Lawrence Demmons, Smithfield,
and George Demmons of Ipsalanta, Michigan; two sisters,
Gussie Demmons of Smithfield and Mrs. Fred McGrath (Lillian) of Melrose.

The service was conducted by her pastor Frank Canning.

Hymns sung were “The Lord’s My Shepherd” and “How Great Thou Art”.

Florence Fraser Chapter No. 47, O.E.S.,
conducted their service on July 5 at Veinotte’s Funeral Parlor
under the direction Worthy Matron Mrs. Belle Cameron
and Worthy Patron L. D. MacKeen, with their officers.

Pallbearers were Hugh MacDonald, Harold Whidden, Basil Whidden,
Bertie Weir, Martin Peters and Elson Benjamin.
Internment was in Waternish Cemetery.
