CANSO'S OLDEST RESIDENT IS DEAD

The death of Canso's oldest resident
and a very respected citizen, RUPERT SWAINE,
occured at the home of his son FRED,
fisheries inspector for Canso District.
The late Mr. Swaine, who had reached the advanced age
of 92 years last June, followed the carpenter trade
during his working years but had been in failing health recently.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, FRED,
fisheries officer, Canso; with whom the aged couple resided
during recent years; WALTER, a carpenter, also of Canso;
and CLARENCE in Western Canada; and two daughters,
MRS. CHARLIE KAVANAGH, Montreal and ANNIE LAURIE,
teacher, Vancouver, B.C. The funeral was conducted
by the Rev.W.H. Johnson, Pastor of the Canso Baptist Church.
