These images were created to show the head gasket and the area of the head (the "step") which should be removed while doing a cc job on the combustion chamber.

The outlined area is as I understand it, the "step" which needs to be removed.
The copper head gasket is shown in place, and defines the inside edge of the cylinder wall.
