Dear Kimile Aczon,
Thanks for sending me your novel. I think BJ is a fine book that deserves to reach a wide reading audience. Most horror fiction is so unthinkingly lily-white that its readers never encounter sympathetic black characters, or, for that matter, any black characters at all. This is a tremendous deprivation; it injures all of us. You and Tananarive Due, of whom I am very fond and whose work I enjoy and respect, are doing something extremely valuable, even necessary - I just wish you had more company!
I write very few book reviews, and when I do, it is because a book editor for some newspaper calls up and asks if I'd like to consider a specific book he or she has in mind for me. So I won't be able to review BJ, but what I can and will do is mention it publicly as often as possible. You and your book deserve as much attention as you can get.
Many, many congratulations on what you have managed to accomplish, working alone and against such a depth of resistance. Writing a novel is difficult enough in itself, as I'm sure you know.
