~2002 Gardens~

This is our 14th summer with gardens on this property and it has been nice to see them change and evolve. This is pic taken from our balcony of our rose garden, which is slowly being over taken by hostas.

This is another pic from the balcony of the rose garden going towards our pond.

This is one of my many explorer roses. This one is Alexander McKenzie and it smells like raspberries, but watch out it has thorns that attack you if u get to close.

Here is a closer shot of the blooms

**********

This is some of the flower beds that run under our porch windows in the rose garden.

**********

This is a pic of Morden Centennial and John Cabot. They bloom all summer long.

**********

This is Winnipeg Parks, it grows to about 3 ft tall and has beautiful blooms on it. I won Best Rose in show with it a few years ago.

**********

Here is the pond that my son and I built about 7 or 8 years ago. The birds really love it and are attracted by the sound of the fountain.

This is a water lily that I had growing in a rubbermaid container. This is the first lily of the season, August 7th

The summer was so hot with several days over 100F that the water hyacynths just went nuts and took over the pond. I have never had so many blooms as I had this summer.

Here are some phlox that grow in front of the pond

**********

A passion of mine is lilies, I love them, they are my favorite flower. Here is a double lily called "Aphrodite"

**********

I have these "Chianti" lilies growing in the bed under my porch windows in the rose garden. I don't know what happened to them this year, people asked me if I had tied them together, but I did not. All the buds were at the top of the plants and the stems were flat, like they had been run over by a steam roller.. P

I have delphinums that I grew from seed planted by the pond in the rose garden. Most years they fall down if I don't tie them up soon enough, but this year they did very well.

**********

I love the look of hanging pots in from of the porch windows too.

**********

Some clematis do quite well up here in our cold climate. Here is one called Jackamanni and it is growing around a rose.

**********

This one grows right by the pond

**********

This one is Nelly Moser and is climbing up to our second story. It bloomed until October this year which is very unusual.

**********

This one is in the backyard. It really is too bad they don't have a fragrance to them.

**********

These are lilies by our porch door. I planted them 3 years ago and they have spread quite nicely

**********

I love the colour yellow, it is so cheerful when coming to the back door.

**********

These are Lollipop lilies that my son bought me for mother's day a couple of years ago.

**********

These are patio lilies called "Orange Pixie"

**********

Here are some more that grow in the rose garden.

These are Sphinx Lilies, they are double reds.

**********

Here are some in the backyard

**********

I also have a few daylilies. This is one called Jungle Princess

This daylily I waited to bloom for about 4 years and this year it finally bloomed.

**********

These are purple coneflowers that I grew from seeds I got from a garden chat friend. I love them, they are so cheerful and everytime I look at them I think of my friend.

**********

This is a double shasta daisy that I grew from seed. The shasta daisy is the symbol of our local horticultural society.

**********

This is a oriental lily called Stargazer. Even though it is not suppose to grow this far north, when planted by our foundation it has survived for 2 winters

**********

This is a view I see from the porch door every time I go and get the mail. I grew all these plants from seeds in the house.

**********

Another favorite of mine are sunflowers, there are so many different varieties now
