~2004 Gardens~ page 2

This is the bed just inside the gate. It is about 12 ft long.

This is the west side by the garden gate and part of the south end of the garden planted with roses, hostas and some lilies.

South and west end of garden.

On one side of the rose garden is a new annual bed, it is 6ft long. You can see the gate in the picture that leads into the rose garden.

Because our summer was so cold and wet this year the flowers didn't do as well as previous years.

This is the new beds finished; taken from the balcony. There are two beds that can't be seen. The annual bed and my brother's bed.

My brother, Phil, passed away suddenly July 4, 2003 and I was so devastated I needed something to keep my mind occupied and to keep me going. He was a father figure to me and looked after me after our father left us when I was only 16 years old. So I made a small garden bed just for Phil and planted it with hostas and lilies.

Here you can see it on the left by the pond, this picture was taken from the balcony.

This is a picture of our small pond from the balcony, Phil's garden is to the left, and the east garden is to the right.

Once the plants have time to fill out, Phil's garden will be very nice. In this garden I put a hosta called "Big Daddy" because Phil has two wonderful children who he lived very much. There are liles because he liked flowers. A hosta with the name of Christmas Tree, as Phil and I always had a competition to see which one of us would be the first at putting up our Christmas trees. *S* Also, there is a hosta named August Moon because Phil's birthday was August 5th.
