The Quick and the Dead >
If you're looking for a total slaughterfest, you may be interested in the golden guns of the Star Wars universe. The following is a list of all the instant death weapons I've found and where to get them.
- g_w_blstrpstl020 - Insta-kill Pistol. This pistol is placeable anywhere. If you place it in a store inventory it'll cost you 1cr (not a bad deal).
- g_w_blstrcrbn020 - Sith Assault Gun "Special Edition". Only available in tar_m03aa with very few available containers.
- g_w_null007 - A "null" pistol, invisible when equipped also only available in tar_m03aa.
- g_w_null007 - BFG9000, the ultimate in stealth assassination. Being a null turret weapon, this invisible rifle tends to shoot from about knee level, but no one can argue with the results. Available in tar_m10aa where there are plenty of conatiners.
- g_w_hvyblstr002 - Calo Nord's instant kill blaster. Available in tar_m03ab, tar_m03ae. You can place this in the lower cantina card store inventory and buy as many as you want for a cool 1cr.
- kas25_lightsaber - Not an upgradable item, but who cares? It comes complete with a +5 attack and instant death on hit. The description says DC10, but I've never seen a hit fail to kill with a single blow, so it may be incorrect. Available in kas_m24aa where there are more than enough containers to equip every Jedi in your party. In fact, if you choose to hunt tach you can replace the gland (kas24_tachgland) with the lightsaber (there are about 17 tach in this area).
The Challenge >
If the game was a bit too easy for you, even on the difficult setting, and you want a bit more of a challenge, this is for you.
The most obvious way to increase the challenge, is to give the enemy better equipment. This applies to droids and creatures as well. Most enemy actors will at least have a minumum item list with armor and a melee or ranged weapon, or both. Others will be loaded with equipment. Creatures and droids are equipped with a "hide" that grants them certain abilities and either weapon-based attacks or special melee attacks (for creatures).
Most sentient "soldier" type enemies are quite capable of using lightsabers if you happen to give them one. For example, Sand People are as comfortable with double-bladed lightsabers as they are with their beloved gaffi sticks. High-level shields, armor and accessories also work to create a much more capable enemy.
For droids, replacing their default hide with g_i_crhide012 (HK 47's final upgrade) makes for a much tougher opponent. Especially when coupled with class 3 shields and special weapons. Null weapons can be a bit touchy about changes, unlike standard weapons. Swapping one for the other (null to standard) can also leave the droid with nothing more than a melee attack.
Creatures can go from merely annoying to completely obnoxious by changing hides and attacks. Droid and creature hides are interchangable, as are the slash attacks. The Dire Tuk'ata bite is one of the more serious attacks.
If you're suicidal, you can even arm the enemy with insta-kill pistols. Tough enough?
Enemy Assistance >
If you replace the enemy medical equipment and stims with g_i_medeqpmnt08 (the squad recovery stim), your entire party will be healed for 10vp every time one is used by any enemy.
Wraid Parade >
The infinitely respawning wraid quartet in the Dune Sea is a great source for replacing 16-byte consumable items like droid special weapons, construction kits, etc. There are 3 separate groups each defined by a single "tat18_wraid0x" entry in the area file so you can have each group drop a different item by replacing tat17_wraidplate. Since you get 4 items each time you defeat the group ...well, you do the math.
Swooping >
Ever want to tear up the swoop tracks without those annoying obstacles in your way? No problem. In the load lists of tar_m03mg_s, manm26mg_s and tat_m17mg_s you'll find an entry called, not surprisingly, "obstacle". Alter that lable and you're in business. You'll still see the obstacles on the track, but you'll pass through them without damage.
