THE CHOICE
The church
Our home of hope
Built to with love
Shining bright
Man has made it
Corrupted Ugly Twisted
Deformed abused
Forever scared
God's Love
Kind Gentle Tender
Eternal Forgiving
Given Freely
Man's Love
Demanding Possessive
Judgmental Fleeting
Selfish Jealous
I stand outside a building
A fight begins in my spirit
Whom will I hear inside these walls
What will I gain from entry
As I enter I will be greeted
With an outward appearance
Of love and acceptance
But underneath is judgment
A man will stand
And spew forth words
His pride and righteousness
Shining blindingly
I will recall all those rumours
Of this man's many flaws
Remember a time when He
brushed me off or said an unkind word
Now the choice is mine
Who will win this battle
This war within myself
Do I enter or walk away
For also with these walls
I will sing praises to my God
His words shall be taught
A closeness to him can be found
Here I have climbed
Into my Fathers lap
Found a Joy and Peace
Learned of His love
Do I sit in judgment
Of the people within
Do I expect them to be perfect
Just because they love God
I am I any better than them
Are there no flaws in me
Do I love them as I want to be
Despite all of our flaws
Who will win this battle
The choice is easy here
Not always so
When we are facing the door
