Yes, I really do walk down the street and knit. So what am I working on?
Hats for Afghan kids -- again This effort began when a friend went to
her local Rotary Club meeting and heard about a fellow Rotarian
putting together a humanitarian mission. My friend, Barbara,
volunteered the efforts of the cyber knitting community to knit hats
for kids. She posted her idea to Knut-U and to the local San Diego
Fibre Folk email lists at the beginning of November. I, and others, have
responded warmly to this and to other such projects.
I missed the first shipping deadline but met the second and enjoyed
showing my efforts off at the
January Lunatic Fringe knitting get together. These hats and six more
(31 total in various styles) joined up with others were shipped to Afghanistan in March
through the fabulous efforts of Afghans for Afghans in co-operation with
the American Friends Service Committee. |
