Biography

Angra, a Brazilian band that is known for it's high pitch vocal singer, Andre Matos. Angra was formed in 1993, after Matos left Viper to form his own band. Since then Angra has produce exceptionaly good records. I have all of their albums accept for one(HolyLand) and also missing their singles. I think that Angels Cry is there best record so far, reason being that it has powerful guitar tunes and excellent vocal. If you're the kind of person who like a high pitch sounding vocals(kinda like Queenryche) this is definitely the band you need to listen to. Angra also uses orchestral instruments that give a classical feel to their music. Give a listen to, very good musicians.

Angra Albums

Reaching Horizons(demo) (1992) 4 out of 5

Reaching Horizons

9 Tracks, playing time 53.23

Reaching Horizons includes some of Angra's first demo tracks.Carry On, Evil Warning, Angels Cry, and more. I think that this album is solid and good even though it has demo tracks. It gives you a sense of how each song orginally sounded like. This whole album has good songs and some do stand out than others but is highly recommended if you're an Angra fan. I really like Carry On, Evil Warning, and Reaching Horizons.

Angels Cry (1993) PERFECT

Angels Cry

10 tracks, playing time 55.50

Angels Cry is their best album for me. This album really exemplifies the sound and music of the band. Especially vocally, Andre Matos voices stands out in every track and can even compare with the great Bruce Dickinson. The album also includes orchestral instruments that gives the sound more feeling to it. A album that shouldn't be missed it's worth every penny.

Evil Warning EP (1994) Evil Warning EP

Sorry I don't have Evil Warning EP yet. Click the link for lyrics.

HolyLand (1995) HolyLand

Sorry I also don't have HolyLand yet. Click the link for more info.

Freedom Call (1996) 3.5 out of 5

Freedom Call

6 tracks, playing time 29.41

Freedom Call is a good album, though it doesn't have much tracks(only 6). It has remixes of previous tracks and also a cover song from Judas Priest. Painkiller, Andre did an excellent job on vocals. A great remix. My favorite would have to be Painkiller. Good if you're collecting the band's albums.

Holy LIVE (1997) Holy LIVE

Sorry I don't have HolyLIVE yet. Click the link for more info.

Lisbon (single) (1998) Lisbon single

Sorry I don't have the Lisbon single. Click the link for more info.

Lisbon (1998) Not Bad

Lisbon

10 tracks, playing time 57.38

Lisbon, well this one didn't really quite appeal to me. It has it's moments, the songs just didn't stand out. I think that they were experimenting with this album. My farvorite would have to be Wings of Reality and Lisbon. Their sound change, plus Andre didn't perform as expected or usually does in my opinion. This is probably their least popular one.
