THE JICKLINGS OF STANHOE

Stanhoe is a small village in the northwest section of Norfolk, a few miles south of the Burnhams.  It appears on Saxton's Map of North West Norfolk (late 16th Century) below "Burnham" of Burnham Market.

Thomas Jickling, husbandman of Stanhoe, brother of James of Wendling left 5 pounds to William, the son of James in his will of 1592 [Norfolk Archdeaconry Wills fol 318 MF 193].  Thomas was buried at Stanhoe 20 Nov 1592.  Joan Jeckling was buried there 7 Feb 1590.  Her estate was administered by the Archdeaconry of Norfolk in 1594.
