8     Walter W. Jickling (1864-1939)

Walter Jickling was born on 28 Sep 1864 to Robert and Julia Jickling. He married seventeen year old Edith May Allen (1880-1963) on 17 Nov 1897. At the turn of the century Walter is shown on the plat map as the owner of the family farm on H Street north of Comstock. In 1919 they lived at 3116 W. Cedar in Kalamazoo and in the 1930s they lived next door at 314 W. Cedar Street, while Walter was secretary treasurer of the Farmers' Mutual Insurance Company.

They had no children. Walter died on 1 May 1939 at Ocala, Florida and was buried in the family plot at the Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo. His widow Edith died in 1963 and she is buried beside her husband. As recently at 1993, someone was regularly placing flowers on her grave in remembrance of Edith.
