DATA USED IN PROBABILITY ANALYSIS
Though the utmost care was used in compiling this list of values from the raw data I used, it is always possible that there are typos or misprints. Please report any errors to Mary Anne Weaver for correction -- thank you.
It's important to use a consistent and accurate set of coordinates for the Hoagland/Bara temple sites, so that all the star alignments will be occurring at valid "temples" and so that the data will be consistent. In other words, all the observations will be for the same locations. Again, the temples I use in my restricted model are:
Temple Sites:
Earth:
Giza, Egypt
Moon:
planned Apollo 11 landing site
planned Apollo 12 landing site
planned Apollo 13/14 landing site
The premise of the Hoagland/Bara star alignment model is, at either the planned or actual landing sites on the Moon, and/or at Giza, Egypt, stars are observed to be at specific altitudes above or below the horizon.
Therefore, I had my choice: actual or planned lunar landing sites, and the city of Giza, Egypt. I chose the "planned" lunar landing sites.
It's important when performing this analysis to use accurate coordinates for these "temples." Fortunately, the program RedShift contains its own highly accurate atlas and listings of all these sites. And, handily, the planned coordinates of the Apollo 11, 12 and 13/14 sites on the Moon are built right in to RedShift. Those who wish to repeat this analysis can simply bring up the "location" menu, click on "sites", select "landing sites", and then select Apollo 11, 12, or 13/14 from the list.
For Giza, Egypt: I used the RedShift coordinates for the city of Giza, which are:
31 degrees 11 minutes East
30 degrees 01 minutes North
How Crucial is the Cape?
NOTE: Cape Canaveral location coordinates used in this analysis were, respectively:
Longitude: 80 deg 28 min West
These coordinates are estimates, as I did not have precise coordinates
for the Cape. However, if I am off by a few arc minutes, it will make little
difference to my results. That's because I do not rely on Cape coordinates
to reach the definitive conclusions and results in my paper. The final
odds calculation of "19.5 trillion to 1 against random chance" was arrived
at without using Cape Canaveral coordinates at all.
