You hold me like a piece of origami,
You mold,
Fold me
Into someone I never wanted to be,
Someone I can't be.
I lose myself in the creases,
In the folds of your lack of care,
Your selfish....
You're selfish.
My self esteem is molded,
Folded,
Into a jumping frog,
An ugly representation of a swan
As you give me your excuses,
Making me question,
Making me stare off into space,
Making me look inside,
Why do I let you do this to me?
Why do I let you lie,
Avoid,
Ignore,
Take me for granted?
I turn into a paper lantern,
Smothering the candle,
The flame
That was me,
Was my soul,
What made me whole.
I morph into a thin sheet of colored paper,
So easily blown by the wind,
Clinging to your hands,
Your words,
Your smile,
The phone waiting for you.
