UNTITLE
by: Julia Ann Achurra

Will you know my name tomorrow,
When troubles fall in pools of sorrow,
Will you return the favor of past,
Block out the image of demons that cast,
Shadows of sadness on a weakening face,
That seeks the solace of an undefined place.

COMING OF AGE
by: Julia Ann Achurra

      Innocence-gentle, warm breezes blow,
      Simplicity pleases so long ago,
      Butterflies flutter, run with delight,
Slowed from exhaust, dwindle at flight.

Thrive in the early, sweet morning dew,
That is made dissappointed by evening dark hughes,
Live to play and love the days,
Winter was pleasing in childish ways.

Innocent to all but loving and trust,
Free of all bondage, no greed and no lust,
Then passion is sold, and the person make know,
The soul tatter-worn, past impression are gone,
The aura's made dirty, yet the heart is still pure,
When melancholy rides, evils do lure.

Temporary habits, love for one night!
When the shame becomes evident, flee from the sight,
Fear of the end, all done in haste until there's nothing to do, and the still goes to waste.
Virtue used up, and on go the days,
Adult and now wishing for childish ways,

This poem was written in 1989, during my elementary school days and was committed to memory after my very first journal was destroyed.

A YOUNG WOMAN'S BURDEN
by: Julia Ann Achurra

Speak to me of dawning nights,
I'll think to stolen hours of flight,
      Whisper then of secret plots,
I'll see a good thrashing and buckled knots sing to me of maidens adrift,
They'll make haste of their dreaming and carry on swift shout then to me of their victories,
Splendid! I'll smile and know that your stories have ended.
