Ryu is the origanal Street Fighter. The entire series revolves around him and his best friend Ken. He has been in evry Street Fighter game along with Ken. He is also Capcom's mascot. He probably is the character with the simplest moves to execute. But that doesn't mean he's not the most dangerous!He fights not for glory or revenge, but to improve his fighting skills and attain a higher chi(inner spirit). Ryu was orphaned as a child and taken in by Gouken. It was while he was training when he met Ken. They instantly became best friends. When Ryu entered the first Stret Fighter tournament he narrowly defeated Sagat with the Dragon Punch, permenantly scarring the former champion's chest. Ryu quickly established himself as the World's Strongest Warrior by winning tournament after tournament, fight after fight. Then, one day, Ryu met "Evil in the Flesh"...Akuma! Akuma saw the potential in Ryu and told him about this. He left Ryu with a dark feeling. This created Evil Ryu. A cross between Ryu and Akuma. Akuma remains Ryu's greatest competition, but he knows he can always count on Ken. However, he needs to be aware of Sagat and his tricks. For Sagat can never rest untill one of them is dead. But Ken's got his back. And it's not like his enimies don't have other enimies. So Dan could come into the picture. Well Ryu's life is interesting. But despite all his few friends and many foes, he still fight for only one reason. The thrill of the fight!
