Types of Hauntings

This is a brief summary of the different types of hauntings.

Residual  Hauntings

• A residual haunting is an event that occurred in the past and seems to replay itself over and over again, as if stuck in time.

• The apparitions do not seem to be aware of their surroundings or seem to acknowledghe the presence of the living.

• The events were usually highly emotional, traumatic, and often violent.

• These sightngs always occur in the same place.

Intelligent Hauntings

• Intelligent hauntings are much differentthan residual hauntings as the spirit is aware of its surroundings.

• These spirits are not usually confined to one area and can move about.

• These spirits acknowledge the presence of the living.

Poltergeists

• Poltergeist means ' noisy spirit'.

• Poltergeist activity involves the movement of objects by an unseen force.

• The activity can seem hostile.

• Recent studies have shown a link between poltergeist activity and pre-adolescent women.
