Humboldt By Night was created in September and October 1998 by Tom Gill, Terra Caldwell, Paul Banda, J. Scott Watson, and Brian Pollard. Our first game session was October 31, 1998, an auspicious date. We began with about 15 players. Some have dropped since then, and we've added some, so we're now at between 10-20 active players, not including storyteller staff. Humboldt By Night is set in Humboldt County at something approximating Real Time. Humboldt By Night is part of a worldwide ring of games, the largest unsanctioned ring in the world, called One World by Night (OWbN). That means, things others do in their LARPs and we do up here will affect each other. You may transfer characters between OWbN LARPs with permission of all storytellers involved.
