Now, we all know that there are a lot of Sailor Moon fans out there who HATE DIC because they made Sailor Moon suck in various ways...Well, I am neutral! First I'll give you the reasons I hate the English Dub (because that's why most of you are here!)
IT'S DUB BASHING TIME!
~~~~~Ok, first of all, the names. The characters in Ranma 1/2, Ah! My Goddess!, and Dragonball (Z) all kept their original names! So why did Sailor Moon have to be any different? And even if they felt they HAD to change the names, they did it all wrong! Serena is too magical and graceful sounding to be Usagi's english name. If they stuck her to the Bunny theme (as in, there are still bunny faces on all her belongings) then her name should stay Bunny! And also...Raye, Rei...what's the freakin' difference??
Now, the attacks. Sure, the American attacks are ok...but I think that Moon Princess Halation sounds much more sophisticated then Moon Scepter Activation/Elimination. And that's another thing! They can't get even their OWN attacks right! One block of episodes it's Moon Scepter Elimination...and then all of the sudden it's Activation! What's up with that? And then it's Moon Crystal power...to Moon Star Power! The transformations also piss me off. What's wrong with the Make Up??? They just chopped that right off!! Now, instead they just make it loooooong and exaggerated...you know "Moooooooooooooon Caaaaaaaaryyyyyystaaaaalllllll POOOOOOWWWWEEEEEEER!" That bugs me!
One word...corny. Let's pull out an example. I bought the Sailor Moon S movie in Sam Goody the other day. It had subtitles and it was uncut. The jokes in that movie actually made me laugh! But when I'm watching the Sailor Moon dub...it's like "Klutz the Cat! AAHAHAHAHAHA!" and then I'm like..."heh...heh heh..heh...ehhh.....*cough*"
A very brief, but very important statement...Is Amy from Japan or Britain???? Is Luna from the Moon or England????
Now, this one is addressed to DIC themselves...even though Saban made Dragonball Z sort of corny...they still kept in some of the violence! So, you know, you could have kept your corny little "Klutz the Cat! AAAAHAHAHAHAHA!" Anime, but kept in the violence! I mean, is Sailor Moon falling off of a balcony really THAT bad??

You made Chibi-Usa/Rini look bad! BAKA!! BAKA BAKA BAKA! BAGEEEEEEEROOOOOO! (I won't even bother to translate, you see that I'm mad...). BAD DIC! BAD BAD DIC! VERY BAD!
They're kind of afraid to show kissing scenes...*tries to smother her laughing/coughing* Oh yeah...like Children don't flip on the TV and watch MTV with all those rapper-people talking about having sex and getting fu(censors!)cked. Half the country's pre-teens watch MTV...Half the country's pre-teens also watch Sailor Moon...A LITTLE KISSING CAN'T HURT!!
Now...for the part most of you are probably going to just skip over and go on with your lives....The Dub PRAISING...
Mustn't say that the English Dub TOTALLY sucks...
~~~~~~~Now, we have to give them credit for TRYING, right? I mean, they might have meant the show to be for tiny kids...and that's why they cut out the violence and kissing...
Ok...when I said I was neutral...I meant that I truly hated the English Dub...but there *MIGHT*...*MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT*...have been a reason for all the chopping-up of Sailor Moon...So really, I'm not neutral...but...Aw, gimme some credit for trying!
