Construction

First choose where lantern will be installed on one of the 8'x12" boards. Drill hole for wires and installation brackets. Some craftsmanship will be required here. "Do Not" install lantern just yet but set aside for a second. Now you can set the hardware for the lantern attachement and make sure the fit is ok. Take extension cord and cut off female end, splice wires and connect to wires on lantern.

White wire from lantern goes to wire on extension cord that has vertical grooves on it. Ground it and then run all wires thru hole on board you made and this will become the inside of the post. Put lantern together and attach.

Next nail all 4 boards together. Same size boards opposite eachother using the 1 1/2" finish nails. Next check construction for steardiness and countersink nails in about 1/8" and fill with woodfiller (let dry).

Next get the 2x2's and cut 4 pieces into 10 3/4" and also 4 pieces into 14 1/4". set 2 of the 10 3/4" pieces on the side where the 8'x10" was installed and 2 of the 14 1/4" pieces where the 8'x12" was installed. This will be repeated for the top and bottom bases.

"Don't forget that the smaller 2x2's will have to fit inbetween the larger ones".

Nail these in with the 2 1/2" finish nails, countersink them and fill with filler (let dry).

When all is completed I sanded and smoothed all rough edges, filled the areas around top and bottom base with filler and caulkin then painted it grey with a little black splotched on for effect.

Good luck and Remember: "Always wear safety protection and use caution when operating saws and the like. And it's always easier if some body helps, believe me you'll need it!!!!
