She has excelled in constructing dioaramas ranging from a small-town drug store, which grew to be so large windows had to be taken out of her home to get it out to deliver to the customer. (She got so involved in building this she forgot to measure her doors). She has also built a fully equiped 1" scale (1" = 1') blacksmith shop, complete with the usual blacksmith tools, a billows in the fireplace, a blacksmith, plus cob webs and horse manure. She has done a southwestern gift shop including Indian pictures on the walls, Navajo rugs on the floors and cactus on the front walks. This shop has a stucco wall surrounding it which Momma Ruth built herself. Picutres of most of these items will be posted soon so be sure to check back later.
Momma Ruth does some of the miniature horse tack and trail props here at HAR RANCH but her first love is doing wicker furniture and accessories, including flowering plants and greenery such as ferns and spider plants.
For those who do not know what goes into making wicker: First the wire has to be stretched. Then the string is hand waxed. Special drills are required for the tiny holes that are placed in the wooden seat pieces. The wires are cut to correct length, put through the seat pieces, then the waxed string is woven around the wires to make the patterns you see below.
