The Folsom National Junior All-Stars are the District 54 Champions. We won are district on Wednesday July 21st. We won the first game we played against the highly talented Wodcreek team 8-2. The two players of the game were Clayton Shank who went 2-4 including a double and a Home Run. The other was the pitcher Dan Garland who hit a double, scored a run, and pitched the complete game allowing only 2 hits and one earned run. The next team that we faced was Snowline which we beat 30-0. We thirty run-ruled them in the 5th inning. Everybody hit this game, Anthony Sisneroz went 3-5 scoring 5 runs, Tony Savio went 4-5 scoring 5 runs and hitting in 7RBI’s, and Cody Blythe went 3-4 also scoring 5 runs. Savio pitched 5 innings allowing 1 hit, no earned runs and 6 Strikeouts. The third team that we played was Timber which we beat 13-2. The two hard hitting left-handers lead the way to the victory. Clayton Shank went 3-3 with 2 doubles and 3 runs while knocking in 4. The other left-hander Brian Ducy was 2-4, one of his hits being a towering shot over the right field fence. Ducy also scored a run while knocking 3 times. Ducy almost had two Home Runs, but in the first inning he hit the very top of the fence for a double. Dan Garland pitched 5 innings giving up only 3 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 6. In our 4th game we played Maidu which we beat 5-3. Maidu jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a couple hits and a couple miscommunications. Brian Ducy then hit a two-run Home Run in the third inning to shorten the gap to one. Then in the fifth inning Tony Savio knocked in Cody Blythe for the game tying run with an RBI single. Then later in the fifth Savio scored on a past ball to give Folsom the lead, Chris Reeves added an RBI single in the top of the seventh knocking in Ducy to widen the gap to two. That is all they needed. After a ruff start to the game Savio calmed down and retired the last 15 of 17 Maidu batters during which he struck out 6 in this span. Savio ended up going the distance allowing 8 hits, 2 earned runs while striking out 7. Folsom was headed to the Championship. In the championship game we would play the defending Champions, El Dorado Hills. In the top of the first Sisneroz walked, Savio was beamed, and Shank hit a single to load the bases with no outs. Garland singled knocking in Sisneroz. Then Hart came up and knocked in Savio. EDH did get one of the runs back in the bottom of the first though on a couple of errors. Then in the top of the third Shank lead of the inning with a single, then he stole second and third and would eventually score on a past ball. Garland the walked and stole second and was knocked in on a clutch hit from Aaron Hart. That was all they would need as EDH ended up scoring 1 more run in the game and Folsom would score 2 more. The final score was 6-2. Garland through all 7 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs (none which were earned), while striking out 5. This is the first time any Folsom team had ever won a District Championship. And we are not done yet…..
