What is SERVANT?
THE VISION
The SERVANT Retreat and Training Centre Inc. is a non-profit, Ontario Charitable Corporation created to provide a warm and welcoming facility. We specifically serve the needs of youth and all those who support and permote their personal empowerment. The centre is dedicated to the support of retreats, training seminars, a variety of leadership and educational programs plus institutes that advanced a holistic vision of youth ministry from a Christian values prespective. We feel young people are best served in small cluster groups and have the best chance to grow personally through quality relationships with positive adult role modles. All of our programs stress "relational" ministry.
THE FACILITES
The SERVANT Retreat and Training Centre is located on a farm in South Westren Ontario, and is a short drive south and east of London, on the outskirts of the villiage of Stradffordville. The Centre offers a main house that will accommodate up to 28 people for overnight programs, plus, a number of outbuildings that once refurbished, will serve as group gathering spaces and creative and educational workshop facilities. Our plans, once sufficient funds are raised include camp style cabins, a dining camp-style cabins, a dining hall and washrooms; we also plan to renovate other buildings and create a large, multi-use building with meeting rooms and a chapel.
THE PROGRAMS
Our project development and programs include proffessionally facilitated retreats, leadership skills, training, interactive and creative workshops. We also focus on spiritual development for young people and adult leaders of youth ministry programs. Our ecumenical Christian retreat facility is dedicated to the family. We celebrate the family as a principal foundation of our society. SERVANT will be a place where families can enjoy themselves in the peacefulness of the Ontario countryside. Over 60 acres of agricultural land will stil be utilized to grow crops which can then be used in our service to the poor. We want young people to activily participate in the various oppertunties we have to serve others with our labour.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Resources are needed to continue to bring the SERVANT vision to reality. Buildings needed to be renovated and refurbished. Equipement and materials must be required. Financial support is desperately needed for the capital costs and monthly expences. We need funds to continue our renovation work. The donation of building materials and farm equipment will help decrease our costs. We are always looking for businesses philanthropic partners who, like us, think our young people given guidence and care are the hope for a brighter future for a brighter society. Volunteers who are willing to labour in service to others are needed to fufil the dream.
