These are a few of my favorite things....

Alright then. On my main page I told you this was a place to learn about who I am, where I'm going and what I'm like. Well, you've got the "All About Lia" page for who, the monthly page for where and now you've moved on to this here page for what I like.

We will begin with music and hopefully build from there as time permits.

imusic.com My favorite place to check out music is imusic.com. They have a great selection of pages on different bands and each page is nicely laid out with some great content. In all the paragraphs related to music that follow, the heading is a link to the imusic page and all other links are to personal homepages I found using good ol' YAHOO!.

And now it's time for the breakdown....

SAVE FERRIS
Formerly my favorite band, Save Ferris has unfortunatly sold out big time in my humble opinion. Of course, Mo and the rest of the crew wouldn't care since they are no longer looking out for the fan, but for their own little pocketbooks. However,Jose still makes me feel like a woman.

Related stuff:

For whatever reason, Mo (Monique Powell, the lead singer of SF) once dated Matt Wong of Reel Big Fish. She even sang on their track "She Has A Girlfriend Now" (not hard to figure out what THAT ones about) on their CD "Turn The Radio Off". They broke up a while back but I hold fast to the theory that a song entitled "She's Famous Now" on their newest CD "Why Do They Rock So Hard" is at least inspired by the failed love affair.

SPAM it's pink and it's oval... and it the inspiration to one of Save Ferris' catchiest tunes.

Other note-worthy bands:

Dance Hall Crashers: Yes, the little band that sparked my love of ska is alive and kickin'. Probably the only band listed here that has been around a decade, DHC still packs 'em in and has little rude boys and girls skankin' for hours. Is it just me, or do these kids turn out a new CD (with AT LEAST 15 songs) every, single year??? For a really up-to-the-minute site check out dhc.vfive.com... it even has the free UCR show!!!

Aquabats: Yes, they are freaks of nature. Correct, their lyrics rarely, if ever, make sense. True dat, they wear funky costums and do these weird motions that one could only guess are meant to be attempts at dancing. But come on now, you know you're a fan. You know you sent in your Cadet form with some cute little picture of yourself (or at least wish you did). You know you're still planning that vacation to Aquabania (as soon as you figure out where the heck it is). You know you watch them every week on their TV show (ok... maybe they don't have one but you know what I mean). And finally, you know when things get rough you strap on your anti-negativity helmet.... Yes, those freaks of nature we so lovingly refer to as the Aquabats are a part of your life. So get over it and check out the sites.

Insyderz: Currently, the Insyderz "Skalelluia" CD is my favorite to get me going in the morning. It is a collection of popular church hymns done in styles like ska, punk and the like. Loads of fun but it's gets me confused when i go to church and the same songs are sung much, much s-l-o-w-e-r......:)

OC Supertones: Who can resist a good ska band out of the oh-so-ska infested Orange County, especially when that band has a great message to share? The fabulous Supertones were the first Christian band I ever really liked. They put on some great shows (nevermind the vicious pit crew) and spread the Gospel while they're at it. Can't get much better then that.

Is your interest sparked??? Check out Ska4JC for more from the Christian ska front....

BTW-- if you happen to play trumpet you should check out this one guy's site... It's got tabs for Cake, Save Ferris, Aquabats and more..... just thought someone might be able to use it.....k.....

Alright.... that's all for now... have fun... luvya... bye!!!

Time for going away....
