"Rev." Phelps tries to make people hate gays but my goal
and teach people the truth and help people to not
judge others
by who they choose to be in a relationship
with. Some
people think that gays are "bad" or what ever but
we are no
different than "straight" people. We just choose
to be in a
relationship with a different group of people. My goal is
to try to teach people the truth and help people to not judge
others by who they fall in love with. I don't
want to try
to make people gay because I believe that you are born gay but I want to
help people see that we are no different even though some "straight" people
don't agree with who we are in a relationship with we are still human and
no different than any other people. Have you heard of "Rev." Phelps? Not
to many have but they have heard of what he does so I am putting together
this site to help educate people of him and the things he does. "Rev."
Phelps is the pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church (ever heard of it?)
Him and his followers are on a mission to get people to hate all gays.
That is why I am trying to tell people about him. I'm sure most people
have heard of the late Matt Sheppard. Well the Rev. in control of the picketing
of his funeral was the man I'm here to tell you about. He pickets
just about
everything you can think of because he is trying
to spread
the word of God. He says (and I quote him; everything I quote from him
will be from his web site (www.godhatesfags.com) which I will have
a link to later on in this site.) "To warn the people who are still living
that unless they repent, they will likewise perish. When people go to funerals,
they have thoughts of mortality, heaven, hell, eternity, etc., on their
minds. It's the perfect time to warn them of things to come. Is it mean,
hateful, uncompassionate, etc.? I'm sure it is, according to your standards.
However, according to my standards, it would be infinitely more mean, hateful,
uncompassionate, etc., to keep my mouth shut and not warn you that you,
too, will soon have to face God. "Jesus said unto him, let the dead bury
their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God" Luke 9:60." This
is is pathetic excuse for not even letting someone have there funeral in
peace. I don't know about you but that makes me really mad. I think that
we (all people who are willing to support gays, not just gays, is who I
am referring to when I say we throughout this site) should fight him. In
his web site he has a list of fliers including
where he wants to picket. We need to fight him. We
can counter
picket or support who he is picketing (depending
on the situation).
We need to show him that we will fight
him. And that
for everyone he will get to protest gays there
is someone
to support gays.
I just recently went to the wedding of Jeanne Barnett and Ellie Charlton
which Phelps showed up at. He had about 10-15 protestors and there
were hundreds of supporters there. It was wonderful and things like
this need to continue happening. He needs to get it through his head
that he is wrong and that he can't hurt us. The worst part of it
all was that his followers brought there children with them. There
was a girl who couldn't have been more than 11 there holding a sign that
said "AIDS cures fags." She is too young to even know what sex or
AIDS is yet they bring her and expose her to their crap. That is
the saddest thing to see.
We need to try and get him to stop showing up. If he doesn't come
then we don't have to see his ignorance or the ignorance he is teaching
to children. I don't think that all gays are perfect and sinless for they
aren't. I know that there are people that are like Phelps says but not
all gays are like that and that
is why we
need to do something. It is people like him that make straight people think
that all gays are bad or stupid or sluts or whatever they think. People
like Phelps are the ones making people think that it is wrong to be gay.
That is why we must fight. He is a a ignorant man and we need to educate
people that think like him. I understand that there is a lot of people
like Phelps but if I can change of opinion of just one person I will feel
like I have done something good. I hope you all feel the sameway
for we can't change things all at once. It requires
changing one
person at a time. This is a goal I have set for myself and I hope you will
join me.
