Total health is a relentless pursuit. Health is so much more than the absence of symptoms. Total Health is asymptotic; that is, a goal that no matter how infinitely close you approach it, there is still room to improve. No one is so healthy that they can't get any better. This page is dedicated to your web search for health conscious related items. I'm just getting started putting my links together, so they are sketchy right now, but come back often, and I'll continue to add information.
Go to The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center Website. This site will tell you whether there is a Sivananda Yoga Center in your city. If there is, go there and take a class in Yoga or Meditation. They also have a book store where you can buy books by Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnu-Devananda, as well as other good books and merchandise. Who are these Swami guys? It's not important to go into that here. I've got a reading list below. Don't get caught up in the "weird religion" thing. They don't want to convert you. Jesus doesn't mind. Trust me.
Also see The Divine Life Society Homepage. They offer free books by Swami Sivananda for download, as well as other useful information. Downloaded books are hard to read though, so it's worth it to pay a few bucks and buy the real deal (at Sivananda Yoga Center, above). Don't be put off by the pictures of the swamis.
To determine your Ayurvedic Prakriti (What the heck is that?!?!?, you ask. It's your body type. Go to Deepak Chopras body test. They'll explain whether your are vata, pitta, or kapha (or combinations thereof, and what it means. While you're there, glance around. Some people think that Dr. Chopra has gotten too commercial and annoying. Well, he IS commercial, and that is annoying, but suffer through it. He's also very wise, and right on track about many things. Can't blame a guy for making a buck. I even recommend two books by him below.
For the best astrology site on the web, go to Adrian Ross Duncan's World of Wisdom. Mr. Duncan lives in Amsterdam, and has software and a site that are understandable without being simplistic. His software is available on a shareware basis, but if you want astrology software, you'll want to buy the full program. Trust me. Please tell Adrian that Joseph sent you there.
Recommended Reading List (in order)
This is a short list. There are dozens of other excellent resources. If you read these, and you think my recommendations are credible, I will gladly recommend more. |
