From the President: November Field Trip is Confirmed

Arrangements have been confirmed for the field trip to two bonsai nurseries on Saturday, November 18. The trip will be to the Sumigawa Nursery and Lone Pine Nursery, both of which are in the Cotati area just south of Santa Rosa. We are to be at the Sumagawa Nursery at 10:00 am and will have a little time there, then will be escorted to their growing area a few miles away. The growing area is very large and has trees from one gallon up to six or eight feet tall. They have a large selection of both deciduous and conifer trees. Do be sure to get to Sumigawa on time because it is very difficult to find the way to the growing field without following the owners.
We are then scheduled to be at the Lone Pine Nursery between 12:00 and 1:00. Lone Pine is only a ten minute or less drive. They also have a large selection. You can browse at your leisure and leave when you wish.
These field trips are important for all members to find good trees at fair prices both for you own collection and for donation trees. K plans to be on the trip and will be available for advice as you make your selection.
Maps will be available at the regular club meeting Wednesday, November 15. If you will not be at the meeting and need a map call Jim Stalker at (925) 736-9157.

In our December meeting we will elect new officers for your Club Board of Directors. Steve Huskins will step up to the Office of President. We will need volunteers or nominations for the office of First Vice President. The offices of Secretary and Treasurer also will need to be filled. For the Treasurer it is important to have access to a computer as the historic data and forms are stored in electronic media.
We are calling on the membership for nominations, or volunteers to fill the offices, critical to keeping the Club running.
Thank you for your support. Jim Stalker
