March Meetings:

March 4 - Board of Directors Meeting, 7:30pm, CalFed Bank, San Ramon.

March 10 - Joint Class Meeting.

      7:00 - 7:15pm Library open, 7:15 - 7:30 Business Meeting

      7:30 - 8:00 pm Class Instruction by Sensei Akabane: Fundamentals of bonsai styles.

      Subject matter - Yoseue(group planting). Pinching of new growth. Feeding and watering.

       8:00 - 10:00pm Workshop.                                          Refreshments - Jan Mahone and Jim Stalker.

Change of Location:The Diablo Bonsai Club monthly class meetings have been moved to the Science Room at Charlotte Wood Middle Scchool. 600 El Capitan Drive, Danville. The school is a couple of blocks east of highway 680, take the Sycamore Valley Road exit East as if you were going to the Tassajara Nursery. There are two possible routes to the school. The first signal east of highway 680 is Camino Ramon. You may take a right at Camino Ramon. The eighth street on your left is El Capitan Drive. Turn left on El Capitan past Blossom turn left into the school before you cross the bridge over the creek. The parking lot will be on your left.

Or proceed east on Sycamore Valley Road to the next intersection, Brookside Drive and turn right. Brookside winds southward, crosses Paraiso and turns past Osage Park. Brookside deadends at El Capitan Drive. Turn right, cross the bridge over the creek and turn right again into the school. The parking lot will be to your left. Enter the school through the main central front entrance. The Science Room is directly across the quadrangle.

Notes:Please bring a plastic sheet or other cover for the tables. After the meetings help clean up.

If you are listed to bring refreshments and cannot attend, call your Class Representative. Wear your name tags to class every month to make it easier for everyone to meet each other. If you need a name tag, ask your Class Representatives to order one. The cost is $2.00.

March 19-23 Bonsai Society of San Francisco Annual Exhibition at the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, Cow Palace, San Francisco, CA. 9am-8pm Wednesday thru Saturday, and 9am-6:30pm on Sunday. Demonstration Sunday at 2:15pm by Tim Kong and John Boyce. Ongoing Demos and plant sales daily.

March 29-30 San Jose Betsuin Bonsai Club 33rd Annual Spring Bonsai Exhibition at San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, 640 North Fifth Street, San Jose, CA. 12Noon-5pm Saturday, 11am to 4pm Sunday. Demonstrations at 1pm both days by "Mr.California Juniper" Harry Hirao. Raffle, Door prices, Sale of plants and bonsai tools.

April 5-6 Bonsai Sekiyu Kai of Sacramento 26th Annual Bonsai Show, 12Noon-6pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday. At the Buddhist Church 2401 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento. Demonstrations both days at 2:00pm by John Uchida.
