President’s Message

Our Sensei was successfully treated for kidney stones at John Muir Hospital Wednesday October 20.

Everything went well and K is no longer having pain and is at home recuperating.

The October show went great; we had a good turnout of members both days to work at the show. It was very encouraging to see so many of the newer members helping out. Financially we did very well in the plant sales and raffle tickets and we will be in the black around $1000. Tom Fong will be giving us a report next month. Thanks to the show chairs and committee heads for their dedication and hard work. Another encouraging aspect of the show was that we had 24 members exhibiting their trees. We also had 62 people sign-up to learn more about the Club. Orientation classes will be held prior to the November 8 and 15 meetings.

The Club Dinner Part celebrating the October Show will be on Saturday November 6, at the 3 Brothers from China Restaurant, 2001 Contra Costa Blvd. In Pleasant Hill (near the Pleasant Hill Post Office). Take Gregory Lane or Contra Costa Blvd exits from I-680. The time will be 6:30pm to 7:00pm social, dinner served at 7:00pm. Cost is $21 per person, including tax and tip. Beer and wine are extra. You can park at the restaurant or in the Safeway parking lot.

We have a new permanent Newsletter Editor. Daryl Bunch has volunteered to take over this responsibility. Our thanks to Don Meeker for doing the newsletter these past two months.

In the future please call Tom Fong at (925) 825-9737 if you change your address, e-mail or telephone number so that the club roster can be kept up to date.
