This book covers information for the Amiga 1000, Amiga 500 and Amiga 2000. There is excellent detail to the Agnus, Puala, and Denise custom chips as well as other wonderous portions of the Amiga. Also covered is the the Exec and AmigaDOS systems programming. This book is a great supplement to the Amiga Hardware Reference Manual.

This book focuses on various custom chips including the ECS (Enhanced Chip Set). Amigas covered include the Amiga 1000, Amiga 500, Amiga 2000, and Amiga 3000. Through this one can learn how to use the various custom components to acheive wonderous effects. Absent from this book is any coverage of SCSI chipset or general information in the form of schematics of the various platforms.

AMIGA ROM Kernel Reference Manual: Devices, 3rd Edition. Commodore-Amiga, Inc. Addison-Wesley, 1991. ISBN 0-201-56775-X.

This book covers the hardware interface to the AmigaOS. There are interfaces for every aspect of the AmigaOS including the Game Port, Audio, Console, Keyboard, Parallel, SCSI, Serial, Timer, TrackDisk, and other devices. The IFF (Interchange File Format) is detailed. Also covered is some information about the physical layout of the floppy, RigidDiskBlock, and Amiga Bootstrap. This book is great for AmigaOS system programmers needing to communicate at the hardware level or OS designers needing hints about Amiga hardware aspects. This book is also excellent for presenting a well thought out I/O interface for acessing the hardware and organinzing drivers.

Amiga Developer CD 1.1. Olaf Barthel. Schatztruhe, 1996.

This cd title offers various reference material for the Amiga platform. Included are reference manuals in AmigaGuide format as found on the orginal CATS (Commodore-Amiga Technical Support) Developer CD v2.0, contributions of various authors, and other third party reference material. This cd title is intended as a reference cdrom.


 

Geek Gadgets Version 1. ADE (Amiga Developers Environment) Project. Cronos, 1996.

This cd title is a port of various development tools and gnu software to the Amiga. Documentation for the tools are in both postscript and AmigaGuide format. Binaries in m68k and PowerPC and sources are included. AmigaOS header files are included as well
