I wanted to put on this page some of the special poems and story's that I have received from people through E-Mails. So I hope that you enjoy them as much as I did when I received them!!
UGLY THE TOMCAT
Everyone in the apartment complex I lived in knew who Ugly
was. Ugly was the resident tomcat. Ugly loved three things in
this world: fighting, eating garbage, and shall we say, love. The
combination of these things combined with a life spent outside
had their effect on Ugly. To start with, he had only one eye, and
where the other should have been, was a gaping hole. He was
also missing his ear on the same side, his left foot has appeared
to have been badly broken at one time, and had healed at an
unnatural angle, making him look like he was always turning the
corner. His tail has long been lost, leaving only the smallest stub,
which he would constantly jerk and twitch. Ugly would have been
a dark gray tabby striped-type, except for the sores covering his
head, neck, even his shoulders with thick, yellowing scabs.
Every time someone saw Ugly there was the same reaction.
"That's one UGLY cat!!" All the children were warned not to
touch him, the adults threw rocks at him, hosed him down,
squirted him when he tried to come in their homes, or shut his
paws in the door when he would not leave. Ugly always had the
same reaction. If you turned the hose on him, he would stand
there, getting soaked until you gave up and quit. If you threw
things at him, he would curl his lanky body around your feet in
forgiveness. Whenever he spied children, he would come
running meowing frantically and bump his head against their
hands, begging for their love. If you ever picked him up, he
would immediately begin suckling on your shirt, earrings,
whatever he could find.
One day Ugly shared his love with the neighbors dogs. They
did not respond kindly, and Ugly was badly mauled. From my
apartment I could hear his screams, and I tried to rush to his
aid. By the time I got to where he was laying, it was apparent
Ugly's sad life was almost at an end. Ugly lay in a wet circle,
his back legs and lower back twisted grossly out of shape,
a gaping tear in the white strip of fur that ran down his front.
As I picked him up and tried to carry him home, I could hear
him wheezing and gasping, and could feel him struggling. I
must be hurting him terribly I thought. Then I felt a familiar
tugging, sucking sensation on my ear--Ugly, in so much pain,
suffering and obviously dying, was trying to suckle my ear. I
pulled him closer to me, and he bumped the palm of my hand
with his head. Then he turned his one golden eye towards me,
and I could hear the distinct sound of purring. Even in the
greatest pain, that ugly battled-scarred cat was asking only for
a little affection, perhaps some compassion. At that moment I
thought Ugly was the most beautiful, loving creature I had ever
seen. Never once did he try to bite or scratch me, or even try to
get away from me, or struggle in any way. Ugly just looked up
at me completely trusting in me to relieve his pain. Ugly died in
my arms before I could get inside, but I sat and held him for a
long time afterwards thinking about how one scarred, deformed
little stray could so alter my opinion about what it means to
have true pureness of spirit; to love so totally and truly.
Ugly taught me more about giving and compassion than a
thousand books, lectures, or talk show specials ever could; and
for that I will always be thankful. He had been scarred on the out-
side, but I was scarred on the inside, and it was time for me to
move on and learn to love truly and deeply. To give my total to
those I cared for. Many people want to be richer, more successful,
well liked, beautiful; but for me, I will always try to be Ugly.
I went to a party, Mom, I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom, so I drank soda instead
I really felt proud inside, Mom, the way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, Mom, even though the others said I should.
I know I did the right thing, Mom, I know you are always right.
Now the party is finally ending, Mom, as everyone is driving out of sight.
As I got into my car, Mom, I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me, so responsible and sweet.
I started to drive away, Mom, but as I pulled out into the road, the other car didn't see me, Mom, and hit me like a load.
As I lay there on the pavement, Mom, I hear the policeman say, the other guy is drunk, Mom, and now I'm the one who will pay.
I'm lying here dying, Mom.. I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me, Mom? My life just burst like a=20 balloon.
There is blood all around me, Mom, and most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, Mom, I'll die in a short time.
I just wanted to tell you, Mom, I swear I didn't drink.
It was the others, Mom. The others didn't think.
He was probably at the same party as I
The only difference is, he drank and I will die.
Why do people drink, Mom? It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now. Pains just like a knife.
The guy who hit me is walking, Mom, and I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying and all he can do is stare.
Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, Mom, put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave
Somebody should have told him, Mom, not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom, I would still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, Mom. I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom. When I needed you, you were always there.
I have one last question, Mom, before I say good bye.
I didn't drink and drive, so why am I the one to die?
Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there;
to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or to help you figure out
who you are or who you want to become.
You never know who these people may be
(possibly your roommate, neighbor, professor, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger),
but when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment
they will affect your life in some profound way.
And sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible, painful, and unfair at first,
but in reflection you find that without overcoming those obstacles
you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower, or heart.
Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck.
Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, and sheer stupidity
all occur to test the limits of your soul.
Without these small tests, whatever they may be,
life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere.
It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.
The people you meet who affect your life, and the success and downfalls you experience,
help to create who you are and who you become.
Even the bad experiences can be learned from.
In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.
If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart forgive them,
for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to when you open your heart.
If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you,
but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.
Make every day count.
Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything that you possibly can,
for you may never be able to experience it again.
Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and actually listen.
Let yourself fall in love, break free, and set your sights high.
Hold your head up because you have every right to.
Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself,
for if you don't believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you.
You can make of your life anything you wish.
Create your own life and then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets.
Most importantly, if you love someone tell them, for you never know what tomorrow may have in store.
And learn a lesson in life each day you live

Special is a word
that is used to describe
something one of a kind
Like a hug
or a sunset
or a person
who spreads love
with a smile
or a kind gesture.
Special describes people
who act from the heart
and keep in mind
the hearts of others.
Special applies to something
that is admired
and precious
and which can never be replaced.
Special is a word that best describes
you.......

We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam through the rooms in a maze --
Looking for something or someone, as we sit in our daze.
We chat with each other. We type all our woes.
Small groups we do form while we gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody to type out our name.
We want recognition, but it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt
In IMs we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.
We DO form friendships, but why we don't know.
And some of these friendships will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen we can be ever so bold ?
Telling those secrets which have never been told.
Why is it we share the thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see, as though we were blind.
The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell:
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.
We can't tell "real" people, but tell someone we must
So we turn to the 'puter, and to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains
They are our Friends Without Faces, and odd little names.
Have a friendly day...........
Every night I lie in bed. This little prayer inside my head --
God bless my mom and dad and bless my children
and take care of my husband he brings me so much joy.
And God there's just one more thing I wish that you would do --
if you don't mind me asking - would you bless my computer, too??
Now I know that it's not normal, to bless a small machine,
but listen just a second while I explain just what I mean;
You see, that little metal box holds more than odds and ends;
inside those small components rest a hundred loving friends.
Some it's true I've never seen and most I've never met;
we've never shaken hands or ever truly hugged, and yet -
I know for sure they love me by the kindnesses they give
and this little scrap of metal is how I get to where they live.
By faith is how I know them, much the same as I know you.
I share in what their life brings them, so if it's ok with you --
Just take an extra minute from your duties up above,
to bless this little hunk of steel that's filled with so much love.

Don't ever be reluctant
to show your feelings
when you're happy, give in to it.
When you're not, live with it.
Don't ever be afraid to try to
make things better
you might be surprised at the results.
Don't ever take the weight of the world
on your shoulders.
Don't ever feel threatened by the future
take life one day at a time.
Don't ever feel guilty about the past
what's done is done. Learn from any
mistakes you might have made.
Don't ever feel that you are alone
there is always somebody there for
you to reach out to.
Don't ever forget that you can achieve
so many of the things you can imagine.
It's not as hard as it seems.
Don't ever stop loving
don't ever stop believing,
don't ever stop dreaming your dreams.
