Custom Airbrush

Situated on the hood of my Tiburon is a Salamander. The Salamander was chosen because it captures the essence of my childhood pet and it also looks good against the black. Creating this design involved sanding off the clearcoat layer of my hood and then painting the design on it. The clearcoat was then reapplied and polished. The result was a beautiful design which gives the car a whole new personality. Ironically, the car named Shark has a Salamander on the hood. You cannot get the full affect looking at a picture. The Salamander blends nicely with the black of the car; in a sense becoming part of the paint job. Also not seen in the picture is a gold haze around the salamander. It glitters in the sunlight and fades in and out at each different angle. I don't need to take any special precautions to maintain the brilliance of the mural because the paint is under the clearcoat layer, which is the same clearcoat on the rest of the car. It can be washed with a regular car wash solution and waxed with a regular wax. In the future I plan on adding some more designs. That is time and money permitting.

You might ask.. Why the heck would you paint your hood? Well, the reason is because it is something different. I drive in rush hour traffic every day to get to school. It gets kind of monotonous sometimes. I enjoy having people glance over at my car. It's funny to see their expressions. Sometimes the point and stare. I guess I kinda have it their to draw attention. And besides, I love art. Also, why would you want something that everyone else has?
