The Future Is Now

In another interview (Washington, D.C. 1985) K was asked: "What if a listener takes your suggestions to heart and does indeed change, what can one person do?" to which K replied: "That is the wrong question. Change...and see what happens." And in a radio broadcast for "The Voice of America", on 18 April, when asked what he thought of the religious revival in America, he replied: "It's not religious revival at all. What's revival? To revive something that's gone, that's dead, isn't it? I mean, you can revive a half-dying body, pump a lot of religious medicine into it, but the body after its revival will be the same old body. That's not religion." Later in the interview he said:

"If man doesn't radically change, fundamentally bring about a mutation in himself, not through God, not through prayers - all that stuff is too infantile, too immature - we will destroy ourselves. A psychological revolution is possible now, not a thousand years later. We've already lived thousands of years and we're still barbarians. So if we don't change now we'll still be barbarians tomorrow or a thousand tomorrows...If I don't stop war today I'll go to war tomorrow. So the future is now, very simply put."
