My favorite Place

Prelude

Why acorns to oak trees? Why not? I've always identified with the things of nature and what more powerful than the mighty oak. I once referred to having been born an acorn in Yosemite, my favorite place, and once the thought spoken, it became valid. The soul part of me did seed there, and my journey in life as daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and woman has taken me in a quest toward becoming the "oak."

When I look out my office window I see an Oak. The tree, twisted with time, lifts its branches with grace and beauty, giving shelter to birds and squirrels and even the pests that sometimes attack its leaves. It's not impervious to storms but on a sunny day it shows itself once again to be a survivor. It's then I think of strong women.

Come with me backwards in time, some 30 years, to the attitudes of a much younger woman and her family. Seventy columns of Peanut Butter and Jelly were written from Feb/69 to July/70 and will be featured on this web as well as my current perspective,"Somewhere Between an 'Acorn' and an 'Oak'." Write me, even aspiring "oaks" need nourishment.
